HAMISH has IT franchise taped

HAMISH Robertson graduated five years ago and his jargon free computer support business has grown so quickly that he is set to roll out franchises nationwide.

The award-winning Glasgow-born business studies graduate now has six full-time staff.

He has also acquired a West of Scotland business.

His hand-picked team now provides support, data backup and consulting services to SMEs with up to 100 office staff.

It’s been a remarkable rise for the businessman who was recently crowned Edinburgh’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Robertson Technologies, however, had humble beginnings in Hamish’s student flat in his final year at Edinburgh University.

Through successful networking, he now has a list of satisfied clients throughout the Central Belt of Scotland.

And the fast-rising company’s first expansion via franchise will be in the Newcastle area.

Hamish, who was brought up in Lenzie, will provide the franchisee with everything – including stamps – to hit the ground running on Tyneside.

The ambitious businessman said: “We undoubtedly have the capacity to move forward.

“The fact that I set up this business in 2004 means that I know exactly what the franchisee needs.

“Newcastle is a natural progression for us. It also has a pool of people looking for a fresh direction, people with a reputation for hard work and a solid mix of graduates.

“It is also a well defined area with prospects for expansion and it is also easy for me to get to so I can provide hands-on early support for the franchisee.”

The ideal Tyneside franchisee will have previously worked in a sales/management role in a technical business and is motivated to grow the business quickly.

Hamish added: “The franchisee will employ people in the local area and we envisage the operation being at break even point after only eight months.

“Why are we so confident? Our unique approach delivers support in plain English rather than bamboozling clients with technical jargon.

“Our role is also to become our clients’ IT department and we remove all the technical hassles so businessmen and women can concentrate on running their own company.”

He added: “Over the past five years the company has achieved astounding growth and has earned an enviable reputation in the Central Scotland business community.

“It has taken a lot of hard work. I’ve networked extensively and built the business up from a five-figure, first year turnover.

“It’s been challenging but the company has enjoyed yearly growth. Last year it was 70 per cent and that was in a difficult economy.

“The figures prove our model works. We’re also straight with clients as regards hours worked which makes it easy for them to budget for our input.

“Our operation is ideal for businesses with five or more staff and we have a totally hands-on approach.

“We’re good at preventing problems but we’re onsite with clients, visiting their offices, each month.
